New Generation Master Farmers: Vision and Victory
The book New Generation Master Farmers: Vision and Victory was written as a sequel to a previous book Master Farmers: Leaders and Legends which deals with successful commercial farmers. This latest book focuses solely on previously disadvantaged farmers who had the vision and commitment to be victorious in obtaining success in the farming industry. It also serves as a tribute to emerging farmers who became successful commercial farmers through dedication and hard work despite numerous drawbacks.
The book consists of 20 chapters (300 pages) that deals with these farmer’s formative years and experiences that unwittingly prepared them for becoming successful commercial farmers in the new South Africa..
The chapters covered the challenges they faced to obtain land, financing and access to markets, the institutions that supported them and finally today, how they contribute to their communities and agriculture in general.
The book also tells how these farmers handled hardships such as poverty, setbacks caused by natural disasters, rejection by financial institutions and lack of compassion from various government departments and despite challenges, how they are rising above their circumstances through passion, hard work and sheer determination.

The chapters also tell of courageous efforts by agricultural service providers who supplied sound advice through their representatives, financial institutions who supported emergent farmers with much-needed funds to survive and expand, and compassionate mentors and fellow farmers who reached out to help emergent farmers to realise their dreams of becoming successful commercial farmers.
The chapters are written in an easy reading story-telling style, and contain a myriad of information about their transformation process from emerging to commercial farmers.
There is no doubt that the unfolding stories could serve as a blueprint for all subsistence, emerging and other prospective farmers. By studying this book new generation agricultural students will also be able to learn what it takes to achieve success within this challenging farming environment today.
Since the book was written with the financial aid of agribusinesses it is not available in the trade and must be ordered from the author. The cost per book is only direct publishing and distribution cost.
